Effective September 2026
This policy explains what information Show O’Clock collects, why, and what you can do about it. It describes how the app actually works today.
Show O’Clock (“Show O’Clock,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an app for tracking the shows and movies you watch and finding what’s playing near you. This policy covers the Show O’Clock website and app.
We’ve tried to write this in plain language and to describe only what the product genuinely does. If something here is unclear or looks wrong, please tell us at privacy@showoclock.com.
Account information
When you create an account we hold your email address, information from your sign-in method (for example, that you signed in with Google), an internal account identifier, and account timestamps such as when the account was created.
Your display name
Your account has a display name. New accounts receive a neutral generated name such as “Show Fan 4821”. It is not derived from your email address, and it is shown to you on your own profile — it is not a public handle and there is no public profile page. You can change it at any time, and changing it does not change the email address you sign in with.
What you track and save
The app stores the activity you create in it, so it can show you your own history. Grouped into plain categories, that is:
What we do not collect
We do not ask for your real name, phone number, address, date of birth, or payment details. There are no paid features, so there is no billing information. We do not use your device’s location services and we do not derive your location from your IP address.
We use the information described above to:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles or to serve you ads.
Movies Near You works from a ZIP code you type in. We do not use your device’s geolocation and we do not look up your location from your IP address.
Here is exactly what happens when you use it:
When you submit a ZIP code, we save it to your profile so you don’t have to type it again next time.
You can remove the saved ZIP code from your profile at any time — there is a “Saved ZIP” row in your profile with a Remove button, and it works whether or not Movies Near You can currently find showtimes. Removing it clears the stored value; it does not undo the lookups already made while you were using the feature.
If you import your history from a TV Time CSV export, the file is read in your own browser. The raw CSV file is not uploaded to us and we do not store it. There is no file-storage bucket behind this feature.
What is sent and saved is the data the import needs in order to add entries to your account — for example which shows and episodes you watched and when — plus any items that couldn’t be matched automatically, so that you can review them.
Authentication is handled by Supabase. If you sign in with Google, we use Google Identity Services. We request no additional Google permissions or scopes: we receive only the basic sign-in information Google returns to identify your account. We do not get access to your Gmail, contacts, Drive, calendar or any other Google data.
Your email address is visible to you as your own account information. It is not shown to other users, and it is not used as your display name.
We don’t sell your information and we don’t share it for advertising. We do rely on a small number of service providers to run the app, and information reaches them as part of that:
We may also share information if we’re required to by law, or where it’s necessary to investigate abuse or protect the security of the service.
Administrator access
A small administrative area of the app is restricted to a specific allowlist of accounts. Authorized administrators can see account information needed to operate, support, secure and troubleshoot the service, which can include sign-in information such as email addresses.
Show O’Clock uses essential cookies and similar browser storage for sign-in and account functionality. Supabase sets authentication cookies that keep you signed in — without them you couldn’t stay logged in.
Because the Google sign-in button is offered, Google Identity Services may also set a functional cookie or similar browser state used by that sign-in experience — for example, remembering that you dismissed a sign-in prompt so it isn’t shown again straight away. It is there to make signing in work, not to advertise to you or profile your behaviour.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we haven’t identified any analytics or tracking cookies in the app. Because of that there is currently no cookie consent banner.
The app also uses your browser’s local storage — specifically IndexedDB — to cache a snapshot of your app data so the app opens quickly. This is not a cookie. The cache lives on your own device, keyed to your account, and is not sent to advertisers or other users. We do not intentionally store authentication tokens in it, and the app makes a best effort to clear it when you sign out or delete your account.
Note that our hosting and infrastructure providers may set their own technical cookies or keep operational records as part of running the service; that is described in the next sections.
Show O’Clock does not currently use advertising or behavioural analytics and tracking technologies.
At the time of writing, the app includes no Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, PostHog, Mixpanel, Plausible, Sentry, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, Vercel Analytics or Speed Insights, no advertising SDK, and no fingerprinting or custom behavioural telemetry.
This is not a promise that no technical record is ever created. Our service providers necessarily produce security, request, diagnostic and operational logs in the course of running any hosted application. We have not identified any application logging of personal information that we write ourselves.
We keep your account and app data for as long as your account exists.
When you delete your account, the associated Show O’Clock application data is deleted.
Limited copies may remain for a period in our providers’ backups, security logs or infrastructure records, under those providers’ normal retention practices. We don’t control those systems and we won’t promise an exact timeline we can’t keep.
Export
While signed in, you can download your data from your profile. The export contains the app data associated with your account — the categories listed in section 2 — as a JSON file. It is not a copy of every record every infrastructure provider may hold about a request.
Deletion
You can delete your account from your profile. Deleting the account removes your authentication record, and the database removes the associated application records with it.
Deletion asks you to confirm by typing DELETE. It does not currently ask you to re-enter your password first, so treat it as immediate and permanent.
As described in section 10, some copies may persist temporarily in provider backups or infrastructure records.
Accounts are protected by the authentication system described above, and database access rules are set so that an account’s rows are reachable only by that account. Requests that change your data require a valid session and act only on your own record.
No service can promise perfect security. If you believe your account has been accessed by someone else, please contact us at privacy@showoclock.com.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Show O’Clock.
If you are under 18, you should use Show O’Clock only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Show O’Clock is not directed to children.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at privacy@showoclock.com and we will look into it.
Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you additional rights regarding your personal information.
Independently of that, these controls are built into the product today:
You can also write to us at privacy@showoclock.com with a question or request about your information. We read messages sent there and will respond as we reasonably can. We don’t operate a formal automated rights-request system.
Show and movie information and artwork come from TMDB. Theatre and showtime information comes from AMC Theatres. These services have their own terms and privacy practices, and their use of information they receive is governed by their own policies, not this one.
TMDB and AMC Theatres do not endorse, sponsor or certify Show O’Clock. Attribution and source details are on the Data & Credits page.
We may update this policy as the product changes. When we do, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we’ll aim to make that clear rather than quietly editing the text.
